I'm no expert but the disadvantage of twitter seems to the character limit on posts. The advantage of twitter seems to be the amount of users and level of interconnection. I need to join twitter to compare.
Advantages of Twitter -You can make your tweet more searchable by using the #hashtag as a social bookmark. For example, using #socialmedia would mean that anyone searching for #socialmedia would be likely to stumble upon this tweet. Disadvantages -One of the network disadvantages of Twitter is that it can be difficult to rectify mistakes.Although you can delete a tweet, it may have already been seen, retweeted, and remain in the google cache. In addition, you may mistweet and send something to the world that should have been to one person if you did not do it as an @mention or a DM. So tweet with care! If you make any Twiter mistakes, such as typo's, you can simply delete and republish
I think an advantage with blogging is that a single blog can be about a single topic, while twitting is like multiple blogs but all mixed with the user's profile.
